Joy’s Story
Joy and her three tiny puppies were rescued just in time from one of the most heartbreaking city shelters.
They were kept outdoors in the summer heat, confined to a raised metal cage. To reduce messes, the shelter limited their access to food and water.
Even in conditions no dog should ever endure, Joy did everything she could to protect and care for her babies.
She waited quietly, holding on and hoping for a better life.
Today, Joy is safe—and ready for a future filled with love, comfort, and stability.
Personality
Despite her difficult past, Joy is bright, cheerful, and full of quiet happiness.
She does not have separation anxiety and is generally calm and gentle. She can be a bit timid, so when other dogs play too roughly,
she prefers to rest in her kennel or calmly remove herself from the situation.
Joy isn’t the type to rush forward when unfamiliar volunteers arrive. Instead, she hangs back at first, then happily joins in once she feels safe.
She has a soft, feminine presence—never rough or overly intense.
She enjoys playing with dogs she feels comfortable with and tends to bond closely with one or two friends.
Interestingly, she often prefers playing with larger dogs rather than very small ones.
With People
Joy may hesitate briefly around strangers, but once she becomes familiar, she approaches affectionately and often asks to be held.
She does well with children and enjoys gentle human interaction.
With Other Dogs
Joy is not overly pushy or dominant.
She gets along well with dogs who share a similar calm energy and plays happily with friends she trusts.
