RESCUE STORY
Pepper’s story is one that far too many mama dogs in Korea experience.
She gave birth to six puppies inside a Korean municipal shelter where euthanasia is still practiced.
The shelter kept Pepper alive only while her puppies depended on her for nursing. Once her puppies were weaned,
Pepper was no longer considered needed and was placed on the euthanasia list.
When our partner rescuer visited the shelter to save Benny (who is also currently available for adoption through KPR),
they saw Pepper but simply didn’t have room to save every dog that day.
Not long afterward, they received the heartbreaking news…
It was Pepper’s last day.
Knowing they couldn’t let this sweet mama’s story end there, our partner rescuer rushed back to the shelter and pulled Pepper just in time.
After spending the beginning of her life protecting her puppies, Pepper is finally getting the chance to discover what it feels like to be the one who is loved and protected.

PERSONALITY & TEMPERAMENT
Pepper is a sweet, affectionate, and cheerful young dog with a beautiful balance of playful energy and calm companionship.
She can be a little cautious when experiencing something new, such as visiting an unfamiliar building or the veterinarian.
However, once she realizes she’s safe, her playful personality quickly comes to life.
She is incredibly observant, learns routines quickly, and forms strong bonds with the people she trusts.
Once comfortable, Pepper becomes a happy, goofy girl who loves attention, enjoys being close to her people, and is always ready to brighten someone’s day.

SOCIALIZATION
With People
Loves people of all ages
Friendly with both men and women
May approach new people cautiously at first, but quickly asks for affection once she feels comfortable
Affectionate, social, and people-oriented
With Dogs
Excellent social skills with other dogs
Enjoys running and playing with canine friends
Would likely enjoy another friendly dog in her future home, although she would also do well as an only dog receiving plenty of attention
With Cats & Small Animals
Pepper enjoys chasing birds and has shown interest in cats she sees during walks.
She has not been tested with rabbits or other small pets.
Because of her natural prey drive toward smaller animals outdoors, we believe a home without cats or small pets would likely be the best fit.

TRAINING & HOME LIFE
100% outdoor potty trained
Walks beautifully on leash and enjoys relaxed “sniffari” walks
Rides calmly in the car with no motion sickness
Comfortable with baths and brushing
Crate training is currently in progress
No signs of separation anxiety observed
When Pepper first transitioned into indoor life, she occasionally carried away shoes and socks to chew.
As she has settled into foster care, this behavior has greatly improved and has become much less frequent.
Like many young dogs, she will continue benefiting from appropriate chew toys, routine, and gentle guidance as she adjusts to family life.

HEALTH
Spayed
Rabies vaccinated (May 6, 2026)
No known allergies
No previous medical conditions or surgeries
Currently healthy
When Pepper was first rescued, she had some dry, flaky skin. She was examined by a veterinarian, and no underlying medical issues were found.
Her skin has since improved, and she is otherwise a healthy young dog.
Her most recent NexGard Spectra treatment was administered on June 1, 2026.

IDEAL HOME
Pepper would thrive with a family that understands rescue dogs sometimes need a little time to adjust to unfamiliar environments.
Although she may initially be cautious around new experiences, she settles in beautifully once she feels safe and quickly becomes an affectionate, playful companion.
She would enjoy regular walks, opportunities to explore, continued positive reinforcement training, and lots of quality time with her family.
Pepper gets along wonderfully with other dogs and could happily share her home with a friendly canine companion.
She would also do well as an only dog who receives plenty of love and attention.
Because she enjoys chasing birds and has shown interest in cats outdoors, we recommend a home without cats or other small animals.
Pepper has already spent the first chapter of her life raising six puppies.
Now it’s finally Pepper’s turn to be someone’s baby.
